Dominica’s CBI-approved six-star Secret Bay Resort has been named the Number One Resort in the Caribbean and the Number Six Resort in the world by Travel + Leisure’s 2020 World’s Best Awards
One of the world’s best citizenship by investment programmes, that of Caribbean island Dominica (the world’s best, according to the 2019 CBI Index by The Financial Times) has now become even better with one of its CBI-approved properties becoming named at number in the Caribbean and sixth in the world.
A first for the CBI industry
Marking a first for the citizenship by investment industry, a CBI investment real estate project has been awarded top marks in the world’s leading travel awards.
Dominica’s government-approved CBI investment real estate project The Residences at Secret Bay was recently named the Number One Resort in the Caribbean and the Number Six Resort in the World by Travel + Leisure’s 2020 World’s Best Awards.
This comes following further accolades with the six-star resort (Dominica’s only six-star resort) previously named as the Luxury Boutique Hotel of the Year in the Caribbean Journal.
Six-star Secret Bay resort
Such plaudits are understandable given the six-star all-villa rainforest resorts’ features, which include its dramatic setting in the north of Dominica and on the Caribbean Sea, its two secluded and swimmable beaches, and, according to the website, a “collection of villas heralded for their artful fusion of high design and locally-sourced craftsmanship”.
The resort has become renowned for its remote locale, private villas with plunge pools, hyper-personalised services, nature-to-table dining and no menu concept and wellness offerings.
The Residences at Secret Bay, which was launched just last year, in 2019, is the Caribbean’s only citizenship by investment opportunity with completed villas that is set within an award-winning resort. And just in the last six months, during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the resort has seen great sales growth.
Demand for Secret Bay as CBI investment option
The proprietor of Secret Bay and CEO of GEMS Holdings Limited, Gregor Nassief, told Gulf News: “Prior to the global pandemic, and even now, we continue to see interest from astute investors who understand the value of investing in a development and a competitive exit strategy with a robust market for resale.”
In fact, the villas sold so far have seen strong occupancy, which has generated immediate returns to citizenship investors and the initial investors of the villas have recently been presented with their second ROI cheques. According to Mr Nassief, Secret Bay has only a few remaining shares left in Phase 1.
Mr Nassief further stated that he was increasingly seeing demand for “freestanding residences each with their own parcel of land offering seclusion and privacy”, which is exactly what Secret Bay is offering, rather than “traditional clustered hotel room structures with shared amenities and public spaces”.
Dominica offers one of the top CBI programmes
Known as the Nature Island, Dominica is renowned for its commitment to becoming the world’s first climate-resilient nation and claims to be the Caribbean’s most environmentally-conscious island. Its lush vegetation and investment in clean energy positions it as the best Caribbean nation for life expectancy and quality of life.
Its citizenship by investment programme, one of five competitive CBI programmes in the Caribbean, which has been running for 27 years, is globally recognised as one of world’s most efficient, transparent and affordable CIPs and was named the world’s best CBI programme by the Financial Times in its 2019 CBI Index.
Offering rapid relocation, with just 45-60 days application processing times, and the cheapest CBI cost at US$100,000 (along with Saint Lucia and Antigua & Barbuda), Dominica’s CBI programme is not just competitive, it’s winning.
Other CBI-approved investment resorts in Dominica include the Hilton’s Tranquility Beach Resort, which has recently been granted an eligible investment option under the country’s CBI programme.
Part of the Hilton Curio Collection, the five-star Tranquility Beach Resort on Dominica has been selected as eligible under the country’s long-established and highly-regarded Citizenship by Investment (CBI) programme.
